VPP Elementary School students Shine in Art Contest
Los Angeles, CA − February 22, 2006 − View Park Prep Charter Elementary School students recently celebrated over their artwork.
5th grade student Crista Coleman took first place in Los Angeles County’s 2nd District bookmark design contest. The 2005 Bookmark contest theme was “Imagine.”
Students in grades K through eight participated in the bookmark design activity. The contest was held by the County of Los Angeles Libraries and sponsored by Pentel of America (Writing instruments).
During the Board of Supervisors’ January 31, 06 meeting at Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration Yvonne B. Burke, Supervisor for the 2nd district, presented Crista with an award and prizes.
The award presentation aired on channel 58 KLCS at10:00pm on February 1, 2006. In addition, Crista's winning bookmark design will be printed and distributed throughout Los Angeles county libraries!
Aside from Crista’s LA County regional Bookmark contest award, VPP Elementary also features six of the eight local library contest winners. These students were awarded prizes from the View Park Prep library located on 54th Street.
The following are the names of the K-5th grade View Park Prep local bookmark contest winners:
First place, Gr. K-2 Mikayla Wells Second place, Gr. K-2 Jessica Williams Third place, Gr. K-2 Tyler Jelks First place, Gr. 3-5 Crista Coleman (also Regional winner, 1st place) Second place, Gr. 3-5 Christian Bowdre Third place, Gr. 3-5 Maya Anderson
